our approach to health and safety

Camp Champions was established in 1967 and we’ve had over 50 summers of excellence.

In order for camp to be an incredibly impactful experience, campers must be healthy, safe, and happy. We make camper health and safety the top priority so everyone can enjoy the fun activities and events that camp has to offer.

We are an ACA-accredited camp focused on safety, fun, and growth. We have an extensive 2-week staff orientation, in which our counselors are trained in First Aid and CPR, and also receive thorough training on best practices for working with children. Our on-site team of camp nurses is available 24/7 to handle any injuries or illnesses, with an MD making camp visits three days per week. We strive to communicate and partner with you before camp begins so we can learn about your child and give him/her the summer of a lifetime!

Before Camp

Prior to your child’s camp term, we ask you to fill out forms regarding his or her health history, current medications, immunization records, and a physician’s examination. We aim to ensure that our nurses and staff members are fully informed of and prepared for anything health-related that might occur while your child is at camp. In order to have the best summer at camp, we know that campers need to be healthy upon arrival.

Camp Champions Nurses

Camp Champions nurses are the best! Our friendly, on-site nurse team consists of 6 RNs who are available 24/7 to handle all camper health issues or injuries. Our camp nurses provide care for a variety of minor issues over the summer, most often things like tummy aches and scrapes. While we won’t contact you over small bumps and bruises, our nurses will call you if your camper stays overnight in the Nest (the camp clinic) or has a more serious injury.

Medication

Our nurses dispense both prescription and over-the-counter medications from the Eagle’s Nest several times daily. All medications brought to camp must be checked in on Opening Day. Please make sure all medications are entered onto your camper’s health forms. Our nurses will will administer medication as directed throughout the term. If your camper requires a new prescription medication during camp, our nurses will contact you and ensure that the new prescription is given as needed.

Diligent Counselors

Camp Champions counselors are focused on safety, fun, and growing kids into Champions. All of our counselors are CPR and First Aid certified. During our 2-week orientation, one of the longest in the camp industry, our counselors are trained extensively. Safety is a focal point throughout training in their activity area. Our counselors are committed to providing your camper with a safe and excellent summer!

ACA Accreditation

We are proud to be an ACA-accredited camp We want parents to feel confident in our ability to administer a camp program that focuses on safety, fun, and growth, so we use the best third-party verification available. We also want our staff to know that they are joining an organization that invests in doing things the right way. We wouldn’t be able to accomplish our mission at camp without knowing that we are following the best standards in the industry.
