What You Need to Do

Here is an overview of the steps to becoming a Camp Champions counselor.

  1. Read through the About Us and Staff sections of our website so you get to know us, and what we expect.
  2. Fill out our online application.
  3. Turn in three (3) professional references. (See details below.)
  4. Interview. (See details below.)
  5. Sign and return your contract. (See details below.)
  6. Print off, fill out, and then mail required forms to:

Three (3) Professional References (non-family)

We require each applicant to turn in three professional references from non-family members. These references must be from someone you’ve worked for, like a manager, boss, teacher, or coach. Your references will play a vital role in our decision of hiring.

Interview

This is the most important part of the process. You will be contacted by one of our staff within a week of receiving your application. Interviews are long and difficult—they provide us the best opportunity to learn about your character, your personality, your abilities and your compatibility to work with our Champions counselor team.

We strongly prefer to do interviews face-to-face if at all possible. If a face-to-face is not possible we’ll do a phone interview. After the interview, we’ll let you know within two weeks whether or not we’d like you to join our counselor team.

Contract

If we select you to join our counselor team, we will send you a written contract after we have a verbal commitment from you. We take this commitment very seriously.

We must receive your signed contract within two weeks of the time we mail it to you or we will offer your position to another candidate.

For our own protection, we run a background check on every candidate we offer a contract to. If we receive negative results on the background check or on a reference letter AFTER we receive your signed contract, we reserve the right to invalidate the contract.
