Map of Camp Champions Click on a building or place to learn more!
Riflery: For younger campers, an introduction to firearms on our BB range. Older campers learn marksmanship and safety on our .22 range. Campers shoot to earn National Riflery Association skill patches.
Indy: Campers race around our 1/4-mile “Indy 500” track. Okay, so the go-carts don’t reach the speeds of Formula I race cars. They’re still a lot of fun!
Horton and Carol Ann’s Home Plate: Horton and Carol Ann’s Home Plate is the main camp office, located on the boys’ camp. It is lovingly named after Horton and Carol Ann Nesrsta, the Founders of Camp Champions and the owner directors for our first 30 years! You really won’t hang out much there, unless you need to talk with one of the boys’ camp directors. You’ll also find the Ill Eagles Nest, our camp infirmary, at Home Plate. If you take medicine regularly, get camp bumps and bruises or just aren’t feeling good, you’ll go to the Ill Eagles Nest at Home Plate to see our friendly camp nurses!
Horseback: Campers who wish to can take horsebackthough it’s an optional activity, it’s always a camp favorite! After learning basic horseback safety and some of the basics of western riding at our riding ring, campers get to take trail rides on the many horseback paths. A great honor at camp is selection to the Breakfast Ridean all-morning trail ride, with breakfast cooked on the trail, for older campers who have demonstrated excellent horseback skill AND great attitude.
Texas Stadium: Our green, grassy fields are great for a manly game of football (like the one these guys are playing) or for kicking around a soccer ball. (We make Pele proud.) Baseball fanatics enjoy America’s favorite game at THE ASTRODOME and RUNNEL’s FIELD (named in memory of Camp Champions co-founder and Boston Red Sox’s 2-time American League Batting Champion, Pete Runnels).
Archery: A great sport to improve concentration and coordination. On our archery ranges, campers work to earn National Archery Association skill patches.
Fillin’ Station: Everyone loves the Fillin’ Stationit’s where we eat! Your cabin will have its own table where you’ll sit after you go through the cafeteria-style line. The food’s GREAT!!! Once a week, campers get to sit anywhere (and with anyone) they want!
Parthenon: The Parthenon is a big, open-air gymnasiumno walls. Hey, you don’t want walls during the summer - it’d get too hot! Here’s where we do basketball, bombardment, camp dances and a bunch of other fun stuff. The Parthenon is on the boys’ camp; the girls’ camp has their own gym, called Olympia (it looks exactly the same!).
Love Field: You and your cabinmates can perfect your backhand or serve at LOVE FIELD! Watch out, Agassi!!! Pickle Ball is another CC favorite but be careful it’s ADDICTIVE!!!
Cabins: Of course, all campers live in cabins like this. They’re simple but fun. They have screens the whole way around to catch all the breezes that come from Lake LBJ. Each cabin has seven sets of bunk beds for 12 campers and 2 counselors (in some cabins we have 11 campers and 3 counselors).
Lone Star Coliseum and The Texas Forum: Both places of time-honored tradition, The Coliseum and The Forum are where Torchlight (our evening ceremony) is held, skits are performed, announcements are made and the day’s TORCHLIGHTER is honored.
Climbing Wall: The Wall is a fun challenge. It stands 35 feet high, and all campers get the chance to climb it. When you climb, you’ll wear a harness, helmet and safety rope. It might look a little scary, but it’s really safe. And there’s nothing quite like the feeling you get the first time you make it to the top!
Kneeman Markus: Kneeman Markus is our camp store. Campers earn champs for following camp rules and going “above and beyond” in the cabin and in activities. You can spend your champs each week in Kneeman Markus, where you can buy small stuff like games and stationery, or big stuff like cool camp t-shirts and shorts.
Acropolis: Acropolis is where you’ll find the girls’ camp office. The shady area underneath is a great place to hang out and relax with camp friends and counselors! Here you’ll also find the Cornucopia, where each day before afternoon activities cabins come to get their snacks.
Water Front: The Waterfront is a place you’ll spend lots of time at camp! And why not? It’s the best place to beat the summer heat! We do tons of stuff on Lake LBJ, including swimming, sailing, skiing, globbing, the rope swing, the trolley, the Beach Party . . . you’ll LOVE the lake!
Olympia: Girls enjoy Basketball, Fun and Games, Dance, Cheerleading and other activities under this open-air pavilion.
